Healing Movement:
Coping With Loss
Saturday November 14 2-4pm
Attend a meaningful dance workshop and make a difference in our community! The focus of this dance based workshop is to recognize lives lost to cancer, and bring together a community of people that have been impacted by or want to support people that have been affected by it throughout the journey of grieving. This is a non-profit event supporting The Coping Centre, an organization providing a peaceful place for support, understanding, compassion and encouragement in the uniqueness of one’s grief journey. They offer support programs, retreats & educational seminars by professionals and volunteers who have all experienced grief in their own lives. You can learn more at copingcentre.com
This workshop will be close to my heart, as I lost my mother to cancer in 2022 and will be honoured to share space for this journey right alongside you. Whether you know someone that lost a loved one to cancer, or if you are grieving a loss on your own, come to support, connect or grieve through inclusive and healing dance based movement. All net proceeds will be donate to The Coping Centre to help them continue the beautiful work they do for our community.
The workshop will be 2 hours from 2-4pm on Saturday November 14th. It will take place at Remix Swing (92 King Street S) in Uptown Waterloo. (Street and city parking lot surrounding, accessed via stairs, dance experience not required.) This is a beginner friendly dance class. Style will be open/contemporary!
Healing Movement:
Mental Health & Suicide Awareness

This workshop has already occured.
Over $600 was raised for Camino!
THANK YOU TO ALL THAT SUPPORTED THE MOVEMENT!
This workshop was the first one of the series! It took place January 24, 2026 from 1-4pm at Remix Swing in Waterloo. It was open level-for all dance backgrounds to attend!
Join Simone for a 3 hour dance workshop in memory of her sister, Sabrina, lost to suicide after a life long struggle with significant mental illness.
This workshop will be a safe space to feel, heal, express, connect and dance alongside others that have experience with mental illness, have had a loss of a loved one to suicide, who are grieving, or who are advocates for suicide awareness and mental health supports in our community. I am partnering with Remix Swing, who is graciously hosting Vibes Dance in their studio to make this event possible! All proceeds will be donated to Camino Mental Health + Well-Being, in support of their services in the community that work to help individuals that may be facing mental health related hardships.
I recognize that not everyone is ready to hold space in this way, and some may want to support the Healing Movement cause but cannot attend. Alternatively, you may send a donation directly to Camino using this link:

Another way to support the cause is through purchasing Healing Movement merchandise. Click here to learn more.
The workshop will be broken into a two part combo class, roughly 1 hour and 20min per part. There will be allocated time for an intermission and community connections/introduction at the start.
Part One: Feeling
A contemporary style dance combination that focuses on feeling and expressing our emotions related to mental illness and suicide. A time to release what you may have been holding in, and remind you that you are not alone. A time to grieve and let our bodies express with our community.
Part 2: Healing
An upbeat choreography with inspiration from commercial/jazz funk style dance. This is a time for remembering and honouring our loved ones, for holding space for positive reflection and time spent with them. A time for healing and recognizing that it is okay to still have joy within suffering.
